Sharing company blogs, links to company social media sites, company announcements and surveys are ideal for email distribution plus the cost for newsletter subscription services are low and the reach can be substantial.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So, where do you start?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Content. It all starts with content, including blogs, promotional pricing, links to specific sites and topics that could be of interest to the reader and are relevant to your company’s products/services. Remember to include only original information; do not plagiarize other sources. However, you may be able to secure permission from an author or publisher to use their work.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When developing your own content, think about every word as a driver for a specific goal. For example, if you are promoting a 10-day discount on widgets, you will want to specifically mention the widget, describe the details behind the discount, provide information on why the widget is a “hot" commodity, why the viewer should choose your widget and provide a link for the viewer to get more information about the widget.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is also a good idea to embed images relative to your topic. Like articles, you need to have permission to use these images, so you should consider using your own photos/charts or subscribe to a stock photo service where you can purchase the rights to use the photos.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Length. The goal of the newsletter is to encourage the viewer to click through to a desired Web page with further information. In the efforts of building a branding and consistent character basis for companies, we have seen more and more that there are too many companies without a presence on LinkedIn. Not talking about an individual profile - which is very concerning that over 3.5 million users are on the site, but yet millions more haven't ventured into building a profile is overwhelming. To start there, if you don't have a presence on this site as an individual, you are telling the world that either you don't want to be connected to, you aren't savvy with the Internet, or you would rather spamming sites publish information about you instead. One of the most beautiful things about LinkedIn is the searchability factor through google. 4 out of 5 customers will search LinkedIn for their potential vendor representative (or potential new hire) to gain character perspective and knowledge about this person. If you don't choose to put information about your history that you want people to see, they will find out information about you on sites that pay a lot of money to Google to post personal things such as pictures of your home, family members &amp;amp; so on (an example of this is 123people &amp;amp; there are many other sites out there who "phish" for your information &amp;amp; post it freely online). Should you ever find something like this - you can contact the publisher for it to be removed. Know that the most important piece of us mentioning this - is the fact that THE INFORMATION YOU WANT POSTED ON THE INTERNET - SHOULD BE THE INFORMATION THAT YOU CHOOSE TO BE POSTED - NOT WHAT SOMEONE ELSE DECIDES FOR YOU!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This holds true about information for your company. If you don't have a website - how will your customers know what you offer &amp;amp; if you are a real business person? Same with social media. If you are not "out there" and "current" how will people know how to do business with you, connect with you, follow you and want to maintain relationship with you????&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With that being said, as a business owner you have thought about a few things:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(1) what is my logo?&lt;br /&gt;(2) what is my brand?&lt;br /&gt;(3) where will I market?&lt;br /&gt;(4) how will I market?&lt;br /&gt;(5) who will I market to?&lt;br /&gt;(6) build a website&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Will all of these things in place, there is still a laundry list of things that need to happen as well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;FACTS:&lt;br /&gt;(1) If you have a website, it will have either detailed - or not as detailed - information about your products/services&lt;br /&gt;(2) You may be choosing some print marketing or mailers for your potential or existing customers&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are important - but what should go in hand with this?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;***SOCIAL MEDIA***&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you have a personal presence on Facebook, you should NOT be marketing your company on your "personal" page, rather you should have a business page where people can "like" your company and follow your updates.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you have a personal profile on LinkedIn, you need to be sure your company profile is established as well so people can easily find you through your company or your personal profile. Individuals can also "like" your company page for updates. You should also have recommendations of your work that your customers, vendors or staff can post about you - this is a great character building piece and can also encourage a history of your experience.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A newer feature of LinkedIn is posting products &amp;amp; services. The great thing about this is you can get recommendations for these products or services right on the company page - a great marketing tool.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My challenge for you - If you have a personal presence on FaceBook or LinkedIn - then create a company profile for them both. We were grateful to be able to attend this year to reconnect with a few of our customers. It is also great to catch up with those of you who we have known for many years in the industry and meet newer faces.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Qwest was very generous this year and gifted Flip Video cameras to the business partners. We recorded some of our adventure and have for you here.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The hot topic of discussion this year was Cloud Computing. We are excited and curious to see what the business channel does with that product this year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There was also a lot of buzz about social media which is very exciting for us. It was great to be able to brain storm ideas for agents looking forward to launching a program this year, in addition to hearing the success of such agents as TBI with the social media solution.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We heard a lot of Agents talk about the shift in telecom as we know it. Downfall to this is; the amount of time it takes the carrier to then process the order – in which the customer &amp;amp; agent ultimately suffer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A spiff isn’t always ALL it is cracked up to be when you sacrifice the quality of implementation for your customer. Look at the life cycle of an average order: Let’s say it takes about 30 days to get a standard T1 order processed, scrubbed, keyed, FOC received, circuit delivered, then turn up is ready to schedule. If you add another lesion in the mix between your PM and the customer, you are waiting for them to communicate with the customer, phone tag, questions, documents to be signed, more questions, then the process will finally begin . . . you are looking at a two week delay to your already 30 day interval. Sure, if you establish this with your customer ahead of time – you should be ok, but if you have a high priority order – what do you do when service is delayed due to mediation process?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Good rule of thumb in cases such as this – if it is worth it to you to get paid a few $100 for an order upfront rather than rely on your tried and true methods of order processing, feel free. We encourage the engagement of the spiff &amp;amp; would prefer all of our partners get the most money possible for each deal. We just suggest that instead of entering the minimum required information document- then hoping it all goes well; you should continue to engage your PM from initiation to mediate the communication, process and updates on the project daily so the order gets processed in the quickest, most efficient manner. You and your customer can not afford time lost between phone calls. Be sure that you &amp;amp; your PM have developed the action plan prior to the request getting submitted, finalize all paperwork so the order gets processed quickly. This year we had a great time catching up, sharing business practices and learning about new technologies and strategies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The format was slightly different this year, than past shows. The Product Fair was held on Thursday, during breakout sessions instead of Wednesday evening after the on boarding training. The disadvantage for partners attending the breakout sessions, was the inability to participate in the product fair, but it also made the product fair less congested, giving those who had specific product questions, the forum to have one-one time with specialists. It would have been great for our AC &amp;amp; SE Teams to have been there, as these relationships are crucial to the building of sales, process &amp;amp; business functions for each Agent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We found the breakout sessions we attended were comprised of very useful information, experts in the area and there was a lot of time for not only understanding the technology / process, but also question answer sessions. This was very helpful for a deeper understanding of how Qwest is positioned in the market for new technology trends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you have ever considered attending the QMarketplace Event, but never taken advantage of the opportunity, I would recommend trying to attend next year. When planning, schedule yourself to arrive to Denver by 11am, on Wed, giving you time to meet your CSMs in the partner lunch, attend the on boarding (or refresher) and stay for the full event with Awards Dinner Thurs. All of the shifts happened when people looked at politics, and the media began to spread fear. We believe that even though we too are effected by strains in the economy, that the light at the end of the tunnel is already here, we just have to be open to embrace it. We are at a new age, with different challenges, and although challenges are difficult to adjust to, we believe that if we are open we can change things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are very grateful for each of our clients. The relationships we have built are amazing. The carrier relationships continue to grow stronger and our clients continue to thrive. This is a blessing for us to witness. We feel we are a large part of each of their families and this is a special gift. Although our budget has eliminated some special gifts we send each year, we know that they understand their value in our work relationship.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2009 Introduced many changes for us. The launch of the blog, multiple social networking tools &amp;amp; the development of the PM &amp;amp; Auditing Certification Process. We are proud of the work we have done this year &amp;amp; for the benchmark of looking back 12 months at the quality of labor put into every hour of every day. As we hope to continue to grow &amp;amp; support more Agents, we are hopeful about the progress the carriers have with their Agent programs &amp;amp; the Customer/Agent driven focus they project to have. It is exciting to see the incentives some of the carriers have brought forward to the Agents. It is an exciting time to be in Telecom. Imagine what it will look like in the next year. Energy'/><title type='text'>Going GREEN in TELECOM</title><content type='html'>&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;How can we go Green in Telecom?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today, people are growing more &amp;amp; more concerned with conservation, carbon footprint, energy efficiency &amp;amp; further protecting the planet. Telecommunication companies have also jumped onto "Go Green". What does this really look like in Telecom &amp;amp; how can we - as business owners make a change in our businesses? Or is this marketing that just makes us "feel good"?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;What are Telecom Providers starting to consider?&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is a lot of talk buzzing about reduction of carbon dioxide emissions. Large providers throughout the world are making preparations to take specific actions to improve energy consumption in their "highest energy-consuming" facilities. If you search online, some companies have actually posted their "Carbon Footprint" publically to show measures of their concerns &amp;amp; efforts to reduce it. Some are considering power resources such as solar or wind-powered facilities.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;In research I have seen, here are viable ways your company can "Go Green" with IT . . .&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;Recycle used equipment&lt;/span&gt; - seek the rules in local and national laws, research companies with specifically approved licenses to refurbish &amp;amp; reuse existing phone systems, mobiles or IT equipment. Be sure to research &amp;amp; implement the best ways to protect your company information as the equipment you recycle should be whipped clean of anything private or proprietary.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;Paperless Office&lt;/span&gt; - invest in the equipment and backup/remote backup necessary to ensure limited to no paper/ink materials are utilized on a daily basis. This transition will take time &amp;amp; money, but you can eventually scan all of your paper folders into electronic versions &amp;amp; come close to eliminating the need to paper documents. Most important thing to note is you MUST MUST MUST back up all of your electronic data &amp;amp; files to a local &amp;amp; remote backup source. You should carefully research these options. In most cases, you will have an initial investment, a monthly investment on backup services, but then little to no investment in paper/folders/ink/etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;Recycle Office Supplies&lt;/span&gt; - paper products are most used in offices, which is a great place to start recycling. Consider investing in a shredder &amp;amp; recycle all paper materials you would normally throw in the trash. Like I mentioned previously - be aware of confidential information &amp;amp; the proper ways to destroy that information. Ever considered toner or ink cartriges? Many Office Supply Stores are now providing options to recycle these supplies - some actually have incentives for discounts based on quantity. Other companies offer services which give you the ability to reuse your ink/toner cartridges by getting them refilled. It is a cost effective way to reuse a product. Even consider purchasing recycled products instead of newly manufactured products.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#006600;"&gt;Energy Efficient Lighting&lt;/span&gt; - There are light bulbs &amp;amp; different light sources that are supposed to product bright light without the use of as much energy. Consider in investing in the change to these bulbs. They are a bit more expensive, but are made to last longer.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It makes since - really - for everyone to be more aware of the resources that are available &amp;amp; ways to utilize those resources.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Clerecomm uses all 4 of the options noted above - though we will never be a "true" paperless office until the carriers eliminate the need for paper agreements, we are as close as we can be to it. This requires further digging that could result in savings and credits for the customer. Derived from the savings and credits, consider the fee for the time associated with conducting the audit and how that should be negotiated with the customer. Billing errors can occur on any carrier invoice, with any size business, so don't leave out your small to medium sized customers. Also consider the language of the agreement you negotiate to ensure your time is accurately compensated. At times, credits can go back as far as two years, depending on the terms and conditions with the carrier.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We recommend outsourcing the service to companies specifically trained in how to implement a full granular audit. They will know what to look for, how to project and manage the changes, renegotiate contracts, manage inventory and recover credits for your customer. Telecommunication Expense Management is a good long term solution to manage large networks of accts with multiple carriers. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Here are some advantages:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Your accts payable department can focus on thier primary job functions instead of sitting on the phone with carriers each month managing &amp;amp; disputing bills&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Every Telecom acct will be flaged if there is any variance in MRC &amp;amp; the TEM team to research on your behalf &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;You will receive credits sooner as you will not be managing the carrier on your own&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;You give approval for each investigation on behalf of your company&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Employee resources are maximized&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;You can run reports on specific locations, spend types, and monthly costs for internal reporting - saving time on manually generated data&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;The fee associated is based on your Telecom volume&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Here are some things to consider:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;The TEM tools on the market today are run by companies that are not affiliated with Agents or Partners. Thus when an acct comes up for renewal, the acct can auto renew at a higher rate or auto renew at the existing rate as no one is managing that peice of it.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;TEM is a good solution - but only a full package value after the inital audit is fully complete &amp;amp; all changes are made to the acct. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;The auditor/agent / broker then becomes dis-engaged with the management of the acct, thus is unable to have visibility to promotions or contract changes that should happen long term, to avoid this - just have a strong relationship with your TEM representative.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Rules of thumb:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Higher an auditor focused ONLY on Telecommunication services&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Higher the auditor to audit full inventory, recommendations, optimization &amp;amp; contract renegotiations - make sure the auditor completes all of the work - so nothing gets missed (keeping multiple hands out of the process as well)&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Once the invoices and records reflect all changes are made, then it is time to engage the TEM organization for the long term management of bill review. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Each month the TEM will then work to ensure your accts do not show any new increase or decrease of monthly spend - keeping your bottom line where it needs to be&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;Re-higher your original auditor to do an act review every 6 months to ensure no accts are up for renewal, no new promotions are to be had &amp;amp; everything is up to par on the lowest possible rates.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ul&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;"&gt;We highly recommend you only work with companies who have been trained specifically how to audit Telecom invoices. Many "auditors" are not trained on how to read tarrif, contract vs csr vs invoices &amp;amp; thus many items are missed. Also such auditing firms have relationships and/or employs individuals who focus only on tax billing issues on Telecom invoices as well. These are all key items to review &amp;amp; will only be accomplished with seasoned Telecom auditors. We have a combined 35 years of experience in this specialty &amp;amp; we outsource our skills to other auditing companies &amp;amp; Agent Brokers.
